The ancient Egyptian name of Tantah was  Tantuda, according to Professor George Sobhy of the Egyptian University in his 1926 book: The Ancient Egyptian Names of Towns, Villages, Etc. Into Arabic. In the 19th century, it was mostly written and pronounced as Tantah until the first half of the 20th century and particularly in French. The Egyptian town is the capital of Gharbia Governorate. The website section started on August 28, 2016 and explores Tantah from the mid-1800s to mid-1900s. Tantah was a center for the cotton-ginning industry at the time.
