A busy street in Tantah, Egypt, circa 1924. According to a note by Ms. Dora Eunice Giffen,
the pictures were probably taken during the time of 'The Fair' or the "Pilgrimage last spring," when so many thousands were there celebrating the birthday of the "dead Mohammedan saint Sayed el-Bedawi," and that this is part of the procession on the Big Day. Credit: Dora Giffen and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries.
